The Southwest DeKalb High School music program is nationally and recognized for having one of the best music programs in the nation, which stresses excellence in discipline, education, and style! The Southwest DeKalb Mighty Panthers marching band has made many appearances over the years, including the 1996 Olympic Games opening ceremonies, The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, the Carnival of Flowers in Nice, France, the 2002 Bands of America Grand National Championship in Indianapolis, IN, the 2006 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, CA, numerous Atlanta Falcons halftime shows, the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies halftime show, and the Salute to America Parade in Atlanta, GA. If this band and the events aforementioned don't ring a bell, then you may remember them as the fictional A&T Band in the movie Drumline, starring Nick Cannon and Zoe Saldana. Yeah, these kids are HOT! Except from LJ's musing : Now, onto the National Football League. Boy, I guess I need a preseason in picking the games, as I went a mediocre 8-8. The G-Men, supposedly under a rigid Coughlin, showed no self control and lost it big time against a decent Tennessee team. What I SHOULD have remembered is that the Titans have won their last 11 games against NFC teams. The Jets played pretty good against the Fish, but that late defense needs some help. The Rams won a game, the Raiders lost and who is playing for Jacksonville? The local high school team. And what is with the Packers? They blew that game against the Bears, and he Bears, frankly, are not that great. Well, let us get onto the picks. This week’s games Seahawks @ Rams – Rams won last week. Seattle beat a good SD team. Rams not ready for prime time just yet, although Bradford may turn into a pretty darned good QB. I like Seattle Jets @ Bills – Jets seem to play down to the level of their competition. Bills scored 30 vs the Pats last week,, but then, The Jets can throw against that secondary. So much for Trent Edwards. From the Bills to the Jags. Wish I could say that was a lateral move, but, seeing how Gerrard is playing, he may not be on the sideline long. I like the J-E-T-S, JetsJetsJets. Ravens @ Steelers – IS Charley Batch going to see Sherman & Peabody and the Wayback Machine again? Well, it was the Bucs. The Ravens want to say ‘Nevermore’ Boldin is a stud. Low scoring game. Steelers in a hunch. Panthers @ Saints – Saints are getting the best of every team each week as defending champions. Panthers are not going to be a problem, though.

Austintown Fitch Falcons have not one but two out standing wide receivers both Demitrious Davis and Chris Davis who are making their way to the BIG East after their senior season in high school. The dynamic duo are committing to Pitt to play for the Panthers and new head coach Todd Graham. Austintown, Ohios high school version of the Barbers both Tiki and Ronde who both played in the National Football League, the twin brothers are well aware of Grahams style of offense and know he likes to spread the ball around. Graham said early when taking over the program "well be the most explosive team in the country." Little could I have imagined the tragic turns both our lives would take after that. Bills son Billy played on an Urbana, Maryland high school football team that won 50 consecutive games. Billy ran an astounding 4.22 in a Nike camp at Penn State University and was later signed to the Pitt Panthers in the same class as all-world
